TFT Reckoning II: Dawn of Heroes

TFT_MID521_Marketing_KeyArt_Horizontal3_tgeisen_v001.jpg

The long, dark night of the Black Mist has finally drawn to a close, and the sun is rising once more over the Convergence. So gear up, gather your party, and get ready for adventure—TFT Reckoning II: Dawn of Heroes is upon us!

The journey begins July 21st at 11:00 AM (PDT) and reaches its epic conclusion on November 1st at 11:59 PM (PDT).* A big ol’ Mid-Set update means the beginning of a whole new season, so read on for details about the new Little Legends, arena skins, and Pass goodies you’ve been waiting for!

*Dates and times are subject to change. Always check the in-game schedule for the most accurate information.

Passes

What’s an epic quest without some sweet loot? Anyone who adventures through the free Reckoning II Pass will be rewarded with Little Legends eggs and emotes. Those daring enough to take on the Reckoning II Pass+ can expect even more eggs, exclusive booms and arenas, Little Legends, and more! Check out our full rundown for those sweet deets.

New Mechanics

Shadow Items

The Chaos has been driven back, and you know what that means—no more Shadow Items! You’ll still see that eerie green border around chaotic Emblems, but Shadow Components and the Shadow Spatula are going the way of the Vastayashai'rei to make room for...

Radiant Items

The forces of Order are bringing their own special items to set 5.5! These new Radiant Items work like their standard counterparts, just better. It’s as simple as that. Radiant Items will list their bonus effects in shiny gold text, so you’ll always know what extra bonuses you’re getting. Once per game, all players will get to choose a radiant item—and y’all had better choose wisely, because it’s the only one you’ll get!

Divine Blessing

Hark, a light from the heavens! In set 5.5, players will receive a winged loot orb from on high when they drop below 40 Health (or 10 Health in Hyper Roll). These helpful orbs can contain gold, rare items, and even 5-cost champs! Of course, every player will receive a blessing that packs approximately the same punch when they drop below the threshold, so you’ll have to use yours wisely to get an edge.

Tome of Traits

Ever spend half a match just trying to get the right champs for that game-changing synergy? Now, thanks to the Tome of Traits, you’ll have a much better chance! The tome is an item that, when sold, opens an armory and lets you choose one of four Emblems. You can get a Tome of Traits from a Divine Blessing or (rarely) as a PvE drop. This vivid volume takes up a spot on your bench until you’re ready to use it, so a Divine Blessing loot orb that contains a Tome of Traits cannot be opened until you free up some space.

Origins and Classes

A Mid-Set update means a roster refresh! Of course, there’s more to the 5.5 changes than would be advisable to cram into this article. For all the nitty-gritty details you crave, including a full list of the champions who are coming to the Convergence and those who are kindly being shown the door, check out the Reckoning II Gameplay Overview.

Origins

Three new Origins are arriving with set 5.5. First we have the Sentinels, who have taken a break from their busy schedules to bring some light to TFT. Next is the mighty Garen, who fought through Reckoning I to return not as a mere God-King, but as a Victorious God-King. And then there’s Inanimate. Wait, Inanimate... ? Viego is not going to like that. But of course, when the sun rises on new Origins, it must also set on a few others. And so, much like the Black Mist, the Coven, Dragonslayer, Eternal, and Verdant Origins have been banished from the Convergence.

Take a look below for more details on the new origins, plus a refresher on those returning from 5.0.

New Origins

Origin Bonuses
Inanimate* At the start of combat, Inanimate champions summon Harrowing Mist in the 2 hexes surrounding them for a few seconds, granting all allies within damage reduction from enemies outside of the mist.
Sentinel At start of combat, the Sentinel with the highest Health gains a shield that grants Attack Speed each time it is applied. When the shield is destroyed or expires it will pass to the ally with the lowest percent Health. The shield Health and the Attack Speed get bigger with more Sentinels.
Victorious* When Victorious champions score a kill, their next attack is empowered to deal 40% of the target's missing Health as bonus magic damage.

Returning Origins

Origin Bonuses
Abomination When 3 allied champions have died, the Monstrosity will awaken from its grave. The Monstrosity gets bonus health and attack damage based on allied Abomination units' Star Levels. The Monstrosity will also receive a random copy of an item from each of the three Abomination Champions nearest the grave when combat starts.
Dawnbringer Dawnbringers rapidly heal the first time they drop below 50% maximum health. When this heal occurs, all allied Dawnbringers gain 12% bonus damage.
Draconic At the end of each player combat round, gain a dragon egg on your bench. The bigger the egg, the longer it takes to hatch, and the rarer the reward.
Forgotten Forgotten champions have bonus attack damage and ability power. Each victorious combat Forgotten champions participate in adds to this bonus stacking up to 4 times.
Hellion Hellions gain bonus attack speed. Whenever a Hellion dies, a Doppelhellion of the same type (with one less star and no items) will leap from the Hellion portal and join the fight.
Ironclad All allies gain bonus armor.
Nightbringer Nightbringers gain a shield for 8 seconds the first time they drop below 50% maximum health. When this occurs, that Nightbringer gains bonus damage.
Redeemed Redeemed have bonus armor, magic resistance, and ability power. When they die, this bonus splits among remaining Redeemed allies.
Revenant Revenants revive after their first death each combat. Once revived, they take and deal 30% increased damage.

Classes

Dawn of Heroes is also introducing a new class: the Cannoneer. These volatile volleyists are here to add a little AOE to your crew, so grab some gunpowder (and maybe a couple of ear plugs) and get blasting! Keep reading for more info on the Cannoneers and their returning allies.

New Class

Class Bonuses
Cannoneer Every fifth Cannoneer attack is replaced with a cannon shot that deals a percent of that attack's damage in an explosion around the target as physical damage.

Returning Classes

Class Bonuses
Assassin Assassins' spells can critically strike and they gain bonus critical strike damage and bonus critical strike chance.
Brawler Brawlers gain additional maximum health.
Caretaker Caretakers deploy with a Baby Dragon that can be placed anywhere on the battlefield. Baby Dragons gain 100% of their handler's attack speed and restore mana to their Caretaker upon death.
Cavalier Cavaliers take reduced damage. At the start of combat and after each charge, this effect is doubled for 4 seconds.
Cruel* A Cruel champion hungers to be alone against exactly 1 enemy left standing. Cruel champions are purchased with 6 Little Legend health instead of gold. They can be sold for gold but not TFT health.
Invoker All allies gain bonus mana from their basic attacks.
Knight All allies block a flat amount of damage from all sources.
Legionnaire Legionnaires gain bonus attack speed, and their first attack after casting a spell heals them for 50% of the damage dealt.
Mystic All allies gain bonus magic resistance.
Ranger Every 4 seconds, Rangers gain bonus attack speed for 4 seconds. They regain this bonus every 4 seconds thereafter.
Renewer Renewers heal for a percent of their maximum health each second. If they're full health, they restore mana instead.
Skirmisher Skirmishers gain a shield at the start of combat, and bonus attack damage each second.
Spellweaver Spellweavers have increased ability power and get bonus ability power any time a champion uses an ability, stacking up to 10 times.

* Some champions like Gwen, Garen, and Teemo are one-of-a-kind, with mechanics unlike any of the other champs. Be sure to keep an eye out for these powerful champions and learn to wield their fearsome might!

Ranks

As you may have guessed, ranks are receiving some changes for the new update. Whether you play standard TFT, Hyper Roll, or a bit of both, you can expect a little bit of a shakeup.

Standard

Ranked TFT is undergoing a soft reset, which means that everyone’s ranks will be dropped by one tier. In other words, players at Gold II will drop to Silver II. If you reached Master or above during Reckoning I (well done btw), you’ll start Reckoning II at Diamond IV. But don’t you worry! You’ll still unlock ranked emotes based on your placement at the very end of Reckoning I.

At the beginning of this new season, everyone will play five provisional matches before they start to climb. Pro tip: those games are a great time to start wrapping your tactical brain around all of those shiny new mechanics.

Hyper Roll

Players at Blue tier and above will all be dropped to the bottom of Blue (2600 Hyper Rating), while players in Gray and Green will retain their Hyper Rating from Reckoning I.
