So starch those lab coats and wipe off those goggles, because Set 6 is heading into the lab for Teamfight Tactics: Gizmos & Gadgets!
A new set means new mechanics, traits, Little Legends, and more, so read on for all the juicy details! The grand experiment runs from November 3rd, 2021 at 11:00AM PST to February 15th, 2022 at 11:59PM local time.*

Gizmos & Gadgets Passes
We were working in the lab, late one night
When our eyes beheld a wondrous sight
For our levels began to slowly rise
And with each one, produced a prize!
It was a pass!
(Gizmos & Gadgets Pass)
As always, the best way to experience Set 6 is by leveling up your pass and earning rewards! Everyone gets the free Gizmos & Gadgets Pass automatically on day one of the new set, and you can upgrade to the premium Gizmos & Gadgets Pass+ for even more cool stuff whenever you want.
Take a look at the Pass+ Content section below to see some of the things you can unlock with the premium pass, and check out our Gizmos & Gadgets Pass FAQ for more info on how the passes work!
Hextech Augments
Goodbye Radiant Items, hello Hextech Augments!
In keeping with the Gizmos & Gadgets theme, Set 6’s new mechanic is all about experimentation! Throughout each game, you’ll get to equip Hextech Augments—modifications that could fundamentally change your strategy from one round to the next. Some of them will let you dole out extra damage, others will give you more items or gold, and one will even cause certain champions to EXPLODE WHEN THEY DIE.
The possibilities are near endless—especially when you start combining Augments. You’ll get access to three Augments to modify your strategy throughout the game on stage 1-3, 3-5, and 5-1. Like champions, Hextech Augments are organized by rarity, and the rarer ones are more likely to appear later in the game. While all players may not get access to the same Augments, they will all see Augments of the same power (rarity level) at the same time.
But like any good experiment, you should expect some peer review; every one of your Augments is public knowledge, as are the Augments of your fellow players. Wanna know how your opponent just lit your whole squad on fire? Look no further than their Hexcore—that’s this little fella here...
You’ll see these Hexcores on either side of the arena during every match. The one on the left is yours, and the one on the right is your opponent’s. For some insight into what the other side is rocking, or a reminder of your own current augments, just hover over a Hexcore to see what’s inside.
There’s a whole lot more to learn about augments and how to use them. If you really want to get into the nitty-gritty, check out our helpful Hextech Augment Overview.
Origins and Classes
They say you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. Well for this particular omelet, we went ahead and broke all but one egg! (Apparently assassination is a thing no matter what corner of the Convergence you find yourself in.)
From innovative socialites to chemtech-fueled mutants, the new origins and classes of Gizmos & Gadgets represent the very spirit of Piltover’s tallest towers and Zaun’s deepest, darkest alleys. There’s a whole lot of newness happening, and we only have time for a brief look on this page, so check out our Gizmos & Gadgets Gameplay Overview for a whole lot of extra info.
New Origins
Origin | Bonuses |
---|---|
Academy |
Academics have bonus Attack Damage and Ability Power, and can learn from their allies, increasing this bonus whenever an ally casts an ability. |
Chemtech |
After dropping below a certain Health threshold, Chemtech champions gain Damage Reduction, Attack Speed, and regenerate Health each second. |
Clockwork |
All allies have increased Attack Speed, and additional Attack Speed for each Hextech Augment you own. |
Cuddly |
Yuumi attaches herself to her nearest ally at start of combat, or to the lowest Health ally after being unattached for a few seconds. Attaching grants the ally a shield, and Yuumi detaches if the shield is broken. |
Enforcer |
Enforcers detain enemies at the start of combat. Detained units break free after a few seconds or when their Health drops below a certain threshold. |
Glutton |
Once per planning phase, you can feed a unit to Tahm Kench. This unit is consumed, granting permanent bonus stats. The more valuable the unit, the bigger the bonus. |
Imperial |
At the start of combat, the Imperial who dealt the most damage last combat becomes the Tyrant. The Tyrant deals bonus damage. When the Tyrant dies, the Imperial who has dealt the most damage this combat becomes the new Tyrant. |
Mercenary |
Gain a treasure chest that opens when you win combat against a player. At the start of each planning phase, roll the dice to add more loot to the chest! The longer you've gone without opening the chest, the luckier the dice. |
Mutant |
At 3 and 5, Mutants gain a different Trait bonus from game to game.
|
Scrap |
At the start of combat, a number of incomplete components on Scrap champions turn into an ephemeral full item for that combat. Additionally, at the start of combat, Scrap champions also gain a shield for each. |
Sister |
Sisters are empowered by trying to one-up each other. Vi's ability range increases. Jinx gains stacking Attack Speed for a few seconds on takedown. |
Socialite |
Socialite reveal a spotlight on the battlefield. The unit standing in the spotlight at the start of combat gains unique bonuses. |
Syndicate |
Chosen allies are cloaked in shadows, gaining Omnivamp, Armor, and Magic Resistance. |
Yordle |
After combat with a player, a random free Yordle appears on your bench! |
Returning Class
Class | Bonuses |
---|---|
Assassin |
Innate: Assassins jump to the enemy backline at the start of combat. |
New Classes
Class | Bonuses |
---|---|
Arcanist |
Allies have increased Spell Power. |
Bodyguard |
Bodyguards have increased Armor. Shortly after combat begins, Bodyguards taunt adjacent enemies. |
Bruiser |
All allies have increased Health. Bruisers gain double this bonus. |
Challenger |
Challengers have increased Attack Speed. Upon landing a takedown on their target, challengers will dash to a new target, doubling this bonus for a few seconds. |
Colossus |
Innate: Colossus are bigger, more powerful, and take up two slots in your army. |
Enchanter |
Enchanters' healing and shielding are stronger, and all Allies gain increased Magic Resistance. |
Innovator |
Innovators build a mechanical companion to join their battle. |
Protector |
Protectors shield themselves whenever they cast a spell. This shield doesn't stack. |
Scholar |
All allies restore some mana every few seconds. |
Sniper |
Snipers deal bonus damage for each hex between themselves and their target. |
Twinshot |
Whenever a Twinshot attacks, they have a chance to attack twice instead. |
Transformer |
Transformers have two forms that they can swap in between during planning phase depending on whether they are placed in the frontline or backline. |

Ranked Info
Ranked Reset
New set? Reset!
The time has finally come for our hard-won ranks to drop down, all so we can hard-win them all over again! Why, you ask? Well, we know that for a lot of you, climbing that ladder is the most exciting part of the game. We want to give everyone a fresh ranked experience with each new set, and a hard reset will allow for just that!
So, what does that mean for your rank from Set 5…?
Standard
If you climbed all the way to Master or above, you’ll start at Bronze 4. If you hit Diamond I, you’ll start your climb from Iron I. Everyone else is starting at Iron II.
Hyper Roll
So what about Hyper Roll? This one’s easy: Everyone, regardless of placement in the last set, is starting at Gray Tier (500).
Provisional Games
After the set kicks off, everybody who plays ranked will start with five provisional placement games. During those games, you won’t lose any LP for finishing in the bottom 4, and you’ll earn extra LP for placing in the top 4.
Ranked Decay
Are you ready for one of the biggest changes of the set? Once you reach a new rank in either standard or Hyper Roll, it won’t decay until the mid set update! You can still drop divisions, e.g. Gold I to Gold II, but once you hit a new tier (Silver, Gold, etc) you’re in it for good!
Missions
If you want to earn XP and unlock those sweet Gizmos & Gadgets Pass rewards, completing missions is your best bet!

Tacticians
First off, what the heck is a “Tactician”? Well, our little family is growing bigger, so we figured it was about time to come up with an umbrella term. The Little Legends you know? They’re Tacticians. The brand new Chibi Champions? They’re Tacticians too!
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get the introductions rolling—because lemme tell ya, there are a lot of new Tacticians to meet!
Little Legends
Three brand new Little Legends are joining the roster for Gizmos & Gadgets!
First we have Gloop, the sweetest little glob of goodness we ever did see.
Next up is the adorable, amphibious Piximander.
Then finally we have Duckbill. And look, we try not to pick favorites, but this Little Legend is the best thing to happen to TFT since Choncc. Just… JUST LOOK AT ‘EM!
Chibi Champions
When did these three get so SMOL?!
Chibi Champs are the newest members of the Tactician family. They’re like the champions you know and love, but now with THE MOST PINCHABLE WIDDLE CHEEKS IN WUNETEWWA!
*Ahem*
I mean, the most pinchable little cheeks in Runeterra.
Unlocking Tacticians
Random Little Legends will hatch from eggs, but you can also purchase specific variations if you don’t want to leave it up to chance. Chibi Champs are too big to fit into those little eggs, so they can only be purchased directly.
