VAN: RESTRICTION: 3 - Boot Device Verification Failure occurs when Vanguard detects that the game is installed on a drive that does not meet its security requirements.
What Causes This?
This error commonly occurs when:
- The game is installed on an external USB drive
- The game is installed on a secondary internal drive
- The operating system is installed on one drive, but the game is installed on another
Vanguard must validate the game from the same internal disk that Windows is installed on. You will need to reinstall the game on the same internal drive as your Windows installation.
Identify Your Windows Drive
- Open File Explorer
- Click This PC
- Locate the drive where Windows is installed
- For most, this is the C:\\ drive
- You can confirm by checking which drive contains the Windows folder
