Riot Games Parent Portal

TL;DR : If you're in Brazil and under the age of 18, you may need your parents to approve your access to our games. We've also increased the controls parents have on their child's account  through the parent portal following the Brazil ECA Digital Act (2026) regulation.

At Riot Games, we are deeply committed to providing a fun, fair, and safe experience for all players. We understand the importance of empowering parents and legal guardians to oversee their children's online interactions and playtime. That's why we've created a dedicated Parent Portal for accounts belonging to players under the legal age, following each country's regulations and age requirements.

Accessing and Using the Parent Portal

If your child's account is under the legal age of your country, you will be prompted to verify your guardianship and set up access to the portal.

Accounts Owned by Minors

All minors under the legal age in regulated regions are required to receive consent from a parent or guardian to create or continue playing on an account. The parent or guardian must complete the steps listed above to prove they're of legal age.

For any Riot Games account where the player is identified as being a minor, certain safeguards and restrictions are automatically in place.

Available Parent Portal Settings

If you're a parent or guardian, you're empowered to make key decisions for many aspects of your child's account activity through the Riot Parent Portal, such as…

Game Access

Manage which Riot games your child can play. Note that game availability depends on the rating the game has been assigned by each country.

For more details, please check our Parents of Underage Players FAQ and Contact article.

Social Interactions

We know that online friendships and interactions are a big part of the gaming experience, but we also believe parents should have a say in how these social connections play out.

The Parent Portal will allow you to manage your child's social experience, including:

  • Friends List - View your child's current friends and remove any undesired accounts.
  • Comms Settings - Enable/disable text and voice chat in-game.
  • Message History - View the list of all adult (18+) accounts that have directly messaged your child in the last 30 days.

Play Time Limits

Setting healthy boundaries for screen time is crucial, and the Parent Portal gives you the tools to do just that.

  • Play Time Limits - Establish specific monthly playtime limits for your child's account on PC. Once the limit is reached, your child will be automatically logged out. They may still log in to manage their account, but they won't be able to play until the start of a new month.

Note that these settings only apply to PC games. If your child is playing our games on mobile or console, you'll need to adjust the settings directly on those platforms.

Purchase Limits

Set hard limits on your child's spending to give them some freedom to choose the content they want without breaking the bank.

Note that this only affects purchases made through our platforms

Purchases made through mobile (e.g. App Store, Google Play) or console storefronts (e.g. Playstation Store, Microsoft Store on Xbox) must be managed in their respective platforms.

You can also see how much your child has spent in the past 30 days.

Data Personalization

Manage how we use your child's data across Riot services to support a personalized experience. Though the settings speak for themselves, you can also learn more about how we use account data in our Privacy Notice

General Account Management

You will be able to access your child's account management page through the Parent Portal. You will be able to change their Riot ID, personal information, update their password, manage third-party account links, enroll in MFA, and more.

Take a Break

Need to press pause? You can temporarily disable your child's account through the Parent Portal to pause their access to Riot apps, sites, and games. And don't worry—this action is temporary, and your child will be able to access games again when you decide to resume access.

FAQ

My parent verified their age but I still can't play.

In accordance with Brazil's ECA Digital Act, minors are unable to play games rated 18+ even with parental consent. However, if they get approval from their parents now through the Riot parent portal, they will have access to the game immediately when the games go back to their original ratings. At the moment VALORANT is the only Riot game with a rating low enough to enable play for some minors with consent, but there's a chance some of our other games will receive new age ratings in 2027. Until then, we'll protect your account's data until you come of age.

What if I don't complete age verification or my parent doesn't provide consent?

Your account will remain frozen until you turn 18, at which point you will no longer need consent but will still have to verify your own age.

What happens to all my stuff while my account's frozen?

Don't worry—all of your items, cosmetics, progress, etc. will be preserved until you either receive consent from your parents or come of age.
